About Us
The Eatonton - Putnam Water & Sewer Authority is pleased to present our 2017 Annual Water Quality Report confirming your municipal water is safe for consumption. Our water meets or exceeds all state and federal regulations for municipal water.
If you have questions about this report, please contact Donna Van Haute, Director, at (706)485-5252. EPWSA purchases all water from the Sinclair Water Authority, a surface water facility that draws from a lake, stream, river, or pond. Sinclair Water Authority maintains documentation showing the source water meets acceptable standards for public distribution.
The 1996 amendments to the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act introduced a new approach to ensuring clean public water supplies across the United States. This approach emphasizes prevention of contaminants as a critical tool in protecting public water. To implement preventative strategies, potential pollution sources upstream must first be assessed.
The U.S. EPA requires all states to develop and submit comprehensive source water assessment plans for all water intakes. The EPWSA board meets monthly at 4:30 PM at our office located at 663 Godfrey Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024. Your participation and comments are always welcome at these meetings.
EPWSA routinely monitors for contaminants according to federal and state regulations. The monitoring results shown in our tables cover January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017. All municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants, which doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
Water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, reservoirs, springs and wells. As water travels over land or through ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and, in some cases, radioactive material, and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity.
