About Us
We're proud to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report to our community. This comprehensive document highlights the quality of water and services we provide daily. Our primary objective is ensuring you receive safe, reliable water. We continuously strive to improve our water treatment processes and protect our valuable water sources.
Our commitment to water quality remains steadfast. Our water comes from shallow wells (approximately 50 feet deep) located one mile from the North Canadian Alluvium. We also purchase supplemental water from Oklahoma City to meet demand. The source water assessment and protection plan is available for review at City Hall.
El Reno's water treatment includes lime softening, multi-media filtration, and chloramines disinfection. All water from our wells undergoes thorough treatment to remove potential contaminants in accordance with Federal and State regulations. Our water quality monitoring occurs regularly throughout the year, with this report reflecting results from January through December 2016.
All municipal water naturally contains small amounts of various elements. It's important to understand that the presence of these elements doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. In our water quality testing, we utilize specific terminology and measurements including Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG), Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level Goal (MRDLG), and Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL), all designed to ensure your water meets the highest safety standards.

The El Reno Wastewater Department strives to deliver quality wastewater management services promptly, efficiently, and courteously to all residents. Despite our best efforts, sewer backups occasionally occur. If you experience a sewer backup, please contact City Hall at 262-4070. For after-hours assistance (weekends, holidays, and after 5:00 p.m.), please call the Police Department at 262-6941.
When notified of a sewer backup, our city crews will inspect the appropriate sewer vents to determine the blockage cause. Routine maintenance will be performed on the city's line regardless of whether a blockage is discovered.
Liability for sewer backups is determined after thorough investigation following the filing of a tort claim. Tort claim forms are available at City Hall (101 N. Choctaw) through the City Clerk's office or by calling 262-4070. Payment or denial of claims depends on legal liability factors. Under Oklahoma case law, municipalities are not considered insurers of their sanitary sewer systems, meaning the city isn't automatically liable for every sewer backup incident.
