The Norman Resources Authority delivers exceptional leadership and services to ensure residents have access to safe, high-quality water. This Consumer Confidence Statement (CCR) provides detailed information about our water sources, quality testing results, and additional components to build trust in Norman's municipal water safety.

Regarding lead and copper concerns, Norman's water laboratory collected 62 samples in 2015. The lead results showed levels 25 times lower than allowable limits at 0.6 ppb (parts per billion), compared to the 15 ppb standard. Copper levels were similarly 16 times below permitted limits. Due to these excellent results, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recommended reducing monitoring frequency to every three years.

Our Phase II Water Treatment Plant improvements represent a $31 million investment to meet new regulatory requirements, enhance water quality, improve chemical safety, and modernize equipment. Plans are expected to receive DEQ approval in 2016 with construction following shortly after.

We're actively addressing infrastructure needs by replacing over 12,600 feet of large diameter water lines through central Norman. Our Water Line Repair crews also replaced more than 7,500 feet of aging six-inch and eight-inch lines in various neighborhoods and installed 31 new fire hydrants.

Environmental stewardship remains a priority with our fourth recycling drop-off facility now operational near Fire Station #9 on Alameda Street. Our four centers collect over 120 tons of materials monthly, and our residential curbside program maintains over 90% participation. In 2015, Norman residents achieved over 10 million pounds of recycling, earning recognition from our partner Republic with an I-35 billboard.

Norman continues to lead in environmental stewardship regarding water, sewage, sanitation, recycling, composting, and water conservation. We encourage you to review this information and participate in community discussions about protecting our natural resources and planning for the future.
