Tennessee Water Utility Companies

ERWIN UTILITIES takes immense pride in delivering high-quality water to our community. Our annual water quality report outlines our water source, presents testing results, and offers valuable information about water and health considerations.

We commit to immediate notification if any concerns arise regarding your water supply. We're pleased to demonstrate how we consistently exceed quality standards. Recently, lead levels in municipal water have gained national attention. Notably, Erwin Utilities has no known lead service lines within our system.

Most lead pipes throughout the United States were installed in the late 1800s, while Erwin Utilities' first water mains were installed around 1910. Lead service lines were never incorporated into Erwin's water infrastructure, contributing significantly to the low lead levels detected in our system.

Our robust corrosion control program at our water treatment facilities provides additional protection. Erwin Utilities fully complies with all Federal and State regulations governing copper and lead management. None of our water treatment plants have experienced water quality violations.

Our comprehensive approach includes pH control during treatment, addition of corrosion inhibitors at the treatment facility, and extensive monitoring to detect any corrosion indicators. Lead and copper levels have consistently remained well below regulatory thresholds in our water supply.

The established action level for copper is 1.3 parts per million. In 2017, our test results ranged from "below detection level" to 0.397 parts per million—significantly lower than regulatory limits. The action level for lead is 15 parts per billion, and our 2017 sample results showed ALL lead measurements below detection level.
