Illinois Water Utility Companies

We're pleased to report that your tap water met nearly all USEPA and state health standards this year. Our team diligently monitors water quality, and we had no violations of contaminant levels or other water quality standards during the past year.

This report summarizes the quality of water provided throughout the past year, including details about your water source, composition, and how it compares to regulatory standards. We believe informed customers are our greatest allies in maintaining water quality.

For questions about this report or our water system, please contact Paul Ward at (708) 229-3361. We encourage our valued customers to stay informed about their water quality. You're welcome to attend any of our regularly scheduled town board meetings held on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 PM in the council chambers, located on the second floor above the village hall at 9418 South Kedzie Avenue.

Our village uses Lake Michigan surface water purchased from the City of Chicago. Chicago handles all water treatment, with additional chlorine added by the Village for disinfection. We receive water through Chicago's distribution system, which flows into three underground storage tanks with a combined capacity of 4 million gallons. Additionally, we maintain three emergency connections to the City of Chicago located throughout Evergreen Park.

Lake Michigan is our sole water source and serves approximately 125 suburban communities in addition to Chicago. The Environmental Protection Agency has noted significant improvements in Lake Michigan's water quality over the past two decades. By volume, it's the second-largest Great Lake and the only one entirely within the United States. It functions as our drinking water source, recreational area for swimming and fishing, scenic natural resource, and unfortunately also receives municipal and industrial waste from surrounding areas. Encouragingly, all 63 miles of Illinois shoreline are now considered to be in good condition.
