Over its 63-year history, the District has maintained exceptional reliability through high professional standards. NPPWD has earned certificates of commendation for its technical operations from both the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Additionally, the Ground Water Guardian Foundation has recognized the District internationally for its groundwater protection initiatives.

The District remains firmly committed to providing safe drinking water to all customers. This Annual Water Quality Report contains vital information about your drinking water and the efforts made by North Park PWD to ensure its safety.

For additional information regarding this report, please contact John Donahue at (815) 633-5461. Este informe contiene información muy importante sobre su agua potable. Tradúzcalo o hable con alguien que lo entienda bien.

Our drinking water comes from four wells that draw from sand and gravel aquifers. These sources can be affected by various contaminants, including:

  • Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment facilities, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
  • Inorganic contaminants such as salts and metals occurring naturally or from urban runoff and industrial discharge
  • Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential usage
  • Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, and septic systems
  • Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining

The EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems, while FDA regulations set similar standards for bottled water, both designed to protect public health.
