Florence Water Company
About Us
Florence operates two distinct water systems that function independently from each other. These systems include six water wells with a total storage capacity of 2.5 million gallons, servicing approximately 2,650 yards daily.
Our dedicated staff conducts numerous regulatory tests and analytical procedures daily to ensure water safety and quality. Short-term initiatives include upgrading main lines, installing additional storage tanks, securing more wells, and providing ongoing staff training.
Our primary commitment is maintaining the highest quality potable water possible. We conduct water quality assurance tests monthly, quarterly, and annually to meet this goal.
The town also maintains two independent wastewater treatment plants. We employ various methods to control odors in the collection system, including Bio-Dredge (which feeds bacteria that consume odor-causing agents), masking agents, and chlorinated water treatment.
Our wastewater department has prioritized developing a new treatment facility, while continuing sewer collection maintenance, line upgrades, and extensions based on annexation needs. For after-hours emergencies, residents can contact the police department to have on-call staff dispatched.

Florence Town Council operates under a strategic mission to provide a safe, diverse, family-friendly community where residents can Live, Work and Play. The town focuses on economic and environmental sustainability while preserving its unique history and cultural heritage.
Regular Council Meetings take place on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m., except for the first Monday in July and third Monday in December. These meetings are held at the Florence Town Council Chambers located at 775 N. Main St., Florence, AZ 85132.
The Arizona Community Facilities District Act (effective 1988) allows towns to establish Community Facilities Districts (CFD) upon property owner petition. CFDs finance and provide public infrastructure such as water, sewer, schools, and streets within defined areas. These special-purpose, tax-levying public development districts can only exist within municipal corporate boundaries. This approach helps manage new development costs through financing mechanisms that assess only lands and property owners who directly benefit from specific improvements.
On May 21, 2018, the Florence Town Council approved Resolution No. 1664-18, which modified the fee schedule for town-owned water and wastewater utilities. This resolution included rate increases for 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Further discussion of this resolution may have occurred during the regular Town Council meeting on February 4, 2019.
