About Us
In compliance with state regulations, the Town of Glenville releases an annual assessment detailing the quality of your municipal water. This report aims to enhance your understanding of tap water and highlight the importance of protecting our water resources.
We're pleased to report that last year, your tap water met all State health requirements, and our system didn't violate any maximum contaminant levels. This report provides a comprehensive overview of last year's water quality, including information about the source, composition, and how it compares to State standards.

Water Source Information:
Our water source is located west of Scotia Village between NY State Route 5 and the Mohawk River. Glenville's water comes from the Great Flats Aquifer (also known as the Schenectady Aquifer) through four drilled wells approximately 50-feet deep. This aquifer ranks among New York State's most productive and also supplies the nearby Village of Scotia, City of Schenectady, and Town of Rotterdam wells.
The Great Flats Aquifer consists of extensive sand and gravel beds beneath the Mohawk River channel, producing clear water with no major chemical constituents except hardness. Throughout 2017, our system didn't experience any supply limitations.
Before distribution, well water receives chlorine disinfection treatment in a clear well. A chlorine residual of 0.2 mg/l is maintained throughout the distribution system as required by NY State Department of Health Regulations to prevent bacterial growth.
System Facts:
Our water system serves approximately 16,000 residents through 6,272 service connections. In 2017, we produced 641 million gallons of water, averaging 1,756,500 gallons daily, with our highest production reaching 3,023,000 gallons in July 2017. Customer charges in 2017 started at $40.00 for water usage up to 30,000 gallons, with usage above that amount charged at $2.35 per 1,000 gallons.
