About Us
Our water system experienced regulatory violations over the past year. While these weren't emergencies, we believe in transparency with our customers about water quality issues and resolutions. We regularly monitor for specific contaminants as required by regulations.
During September 14 from 12:01 to 04:01, monitoring for turbidity in 1 of our 26 filters didn't occur, creating uncertainty about that filter's water quality during this period. However, all finished water turbidity readings remained well within acceptable limits.
Our water comes from the Cumberland River (Cheatham Lake). We collaborate with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) to evaluate potential contamination sources. TDEC has classified our surface water source as moderately susceptible to contamination based on geological factors and human activities in the watershed.
For specific information about HVUD and its Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report from TDEC, visit https://www.tn.gov/environment/program-areas/or-water-resources/water-quality/source-water-assessment.code or contact Harpeth Valley Utilities District or TDEC at 1-888-891-TDEC for specific test results.
