Understanding Water Quality Reports: To comply with state and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, Indiana American Water issues annual reports describing drinking water quality. These reports aim to increase awareness about water sources and highlight protection efforts. In 2017, testing for numerous contaminants showed all were below government and state maximum allowable levels.
Water Sources: The public water system serving Kokomo and surrounding communities relies on both surface water from Wildcat Creek and groundwater from 18 wells.
Source Protection: The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has assessed all public water sources statewide to identify potential contamination risks.
