What is a Water Quality Report? To comply with state and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations, Indiana American Water issues an annual report describing your water quality. This document raises awareness about drinking water and the importance of protecting water supply sources. In 2017, we conducted comprehensive testing for numerous contaminants, all of which measured below federal and state maximum allowable levels.
This report provides an overview of last year's (2017) water quality, including details about water sources and content. If you have questions about this report or your water supply, please contact our Indiana Customer Service Center at (800) 492-8373.
Landlords, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other groups should share this important water quality information with users at their locations who do not receive direct billing from Indiana American Water.
Source Water Information: The public water system serving Wabash relies on groundwater obtained from eight wells in two well fields. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has assessed all public surface and groundwater sources statewide to identify potential contamination risks. The Indiana American Water-Wabash Operation sources have a moderately low susceptibility to contamination, meaning the likelihood of source water aquifer contamination is relatively low under current land use activities.
Indiana American Water has developed a comprehensive Wellhead Protection Management Program in collaboration with community volunteers to safeguard valuable groundwater resources. IDEM has recognized this program by presenting Indiana American Water-Wabash Operations with the Hoosier Water Guardian Award.
For environmental water quality concerns, please contact our Supervisor of Water Quality and Environmental Compliance, listed in this report. Indiana American Water invested over $1.2 million in improvements to the Wabash Water System in 2017 and paid more than $85,000 in community taxes, providing valuable revenue to the local community and its services.
