North Carolina CDC Tap Water Info

For more information on your tap water, visit the U.S. CDC:

Johnston County - West Drinking Water Company and CDC

Is my tap water safe? Yes, our water meets all EPA health standards. This report outlines our water quality and what it means. Our primary goal is to provide you with safe, reliable water. We are dedicated to ensuring you're satisfied with your water quality.

What is the source of my water? Your water is treated surface water, purchased from the City of Greeneville TN and Jonesborough Water System. We work to protect our water from contaminants and collaborate with the State to assess our water source's vulnerability to potential contamination.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has prepared a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for untreated water sources serving this system. The SWAP Report evaluates untreated water sources' susceptibility to potential contamination.

To ensure safe tap water, all public water systems treat and regularly test their water. Water resources were rated as reasonably susceptible, moderately susceptible or slightly susceptible based on geological factors and human activities near the water source. The Chuckey Utility District resources rated as moderately vulnerable to potential contamination.

Why are there contaminants in my water? Tap water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate that water poses a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Este informe contiene información muy importante. Tradúscalo o hable con Alguien que lo entienda bien. For more information about your water quality, please call Tyson Lamb at 639-6362.

How can I get involved? Our Water Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:30 p.m. at 415 Banks Street, Greeneville. Please participate in these meetings. Commissioners serve 4-year terms. Board vacancies are filled by appointment by Greene and Washington County Mayors from nominees certified by the Board of Commissioners.

Is our water system meeting other regulations? State and EPA require us to test and report on our water regularly to ensure safety. We've met all requirements. Results of unregulated contaminant analysis are available upon request. We take all regulations seriously.
