We're proud to present our Annual Municipal Water Quality Report for 2017. Our mission is to keep you informed about your water supply and services. We strive to deliver safe, reliable municipal water and are committed to maintaining high standards.

Our water is purchased from the Town of Tarboro and The City of Rocky Mount, sourced from treated Tar River surface water. We make both Tarboro and Rocky Mount's Annual Municipal Water Quality Reports available for review at our Edgecombe County Admin office.

All water sources, whether natural or man-made, may contain various contaminants including microbes, inorganic/organic chemicals, and radioactive substances. Any municipal water, including bottled varieties, typically contains at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

Certain populations may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than others. People with compromised immune systems—such as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals with HIV/AIDS, elderly persons, and infants—may face higher risks. These individuals should consult healthcare providers about their water consumption. 1. Why is my water usage so high? Your meter readings might be difficult to interpret or mistakenly recorded. You could have an undetected leaky toilet or faucet. Contact our office and we'll help resolve the issue.
2. What should I do about low water pressure? First inspect your meter area for potential leaks, then report the low pressure issue to our office.
3. Why does my water appear discolored? Recent repairs may have introduced air into the lines, causing a milky appearance.
4. What treatment chemicals are added to our water? We only use chemicals approved by the National Safety Foundation for municipal water treatment.
5. My water has an unusual taste, smell, or appearance. Is it safe? State regulations require all public water systems to maintain minimum chlorine levels (0.2 mg/L at line endpoints). Systems using chloramine disinfection must maintain 0.5 mg/L levels. We test disinfectant levels daily to ensure safety.
6. Why do particles come out when running hot water? Your water heater likely needs flushing. CAUTION: Manufacturers typically recommend hiring professionals for this service. If attempting yourself, read the manual carefully to avoid injury or damage.
7. Why do I have an outstanding balance when I sent my payment? We may have received it after the due date or it may not have arrived. Contact our office for assistance.
