ABOUT US

Originally called "Hill City," Loma Linda ("Beautiful Hill") has historically been a health-focused community. In 1905, the Seventh-day Adventist Church purchased the Loma Linda Resort hotel from Los Angeles hospital physicians and businesspeople, converting it into the Loma Linda Sanitarium. This facility eventually evolved into a comprehensive medical facility and medical school, laying the foundation for today's Loma Linda University and Medical Center.

For decades, Loma Linda has been at the forefront of national health and wellness research. The tradition of promoting nutritional health has remained consistent, with Loma Linda becoming San Bernardino County's first "smoke-free" city in 1993.

With approximately 21,000 residents, the city boasts some of the highest median incomes and home values in San Bernardino County. Families enjoy tree-lined streets and numerous parks, offering a peaceful alternative to the fast-paced modern lifestyle common elsewhere.

Despite its size, Loma Linda maintains a distinctly cosmopolitan atmosphere. Visitors arrive from across the globe – some as patients, others as students, educators, healers, or researchers. Many choose to make Loma Linda their permanent home.

The city is anchored by the world-renowned Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children's Hospital, featuring California's largest neonatal intensive care unit, the Proton Accelerator Cancer Treatment Center, and centers for infant heart and multi-organ transplants. The staff includes over 900 physicians across the University and Medical Center.

While the LLU Medical Center and nearby Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center form the economic backbone, Loma Linda continues to expand. Medical support services, research facilities, hospital supply firms, professional offices, and lodging are logical additions. Major developments include General America's 63-acre corporate center, the 85,000 square foot Arbors Business Park, Loma Linda Plaza, and Mountain View Plaza.

Loma Linda's Environment

Loma Linda is a picturesque community nestled within view of the towering San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains. This beautiful setting in the heart of the Inland Empire provides the backdrop for a city that has established the foundation for a prosperous future.

Located approximately 60 miles east of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County, Loma Linda offers proximity to the developed job markets of Los Angeles and Orange Counties while maintaining a community setting for residential, work, and recreational activities. Adjacent to Interstate 10, Loma Linda provides convenient access to beaches, mountains, and desert resorts.
