The primary mission of the Lowell Regional Water Utility is to provide a sufficient supply of safe, potable water to residents and businesses throughout Lowell and surrounding communities. Their commitment focuses on ensuring health and safety in a sustainable manner while maintaining the highest water quality standards.

The facility purifies approximately 4.7 billion gallons of water annually, serving over 135,000 customers while meeting all state and federal compliance requirements. The LRWU staff are DEP certified professionals who constantly monitor daily production, maintain 215 miles of water mains, service 2,300 fire hydrants, and oversee roughly 26,000 water service connections.

Lowell Regional Water processes more than 4.6 billion gallons (4,633,279,000) of municipal water each year, delivering to approximately 135,000 residents and businesses across Lowell, Dracut, Tyngsboro, and Chelmsford communities.
