Maine Water Company Camden & Rockland Municipal Water Report Info

The Maine Water Utilities Association (MWUA) is a non-profit membership organization established in 1925. Initially founded by forward-thinking water superintendents who recognized the benefits of regular meetings to exchange information and provide mutual support.

Today, MWUA continues as a dedicated advocate for water supply professionals. The organization facilitates experience-sharing through bi-monthly meetings, educational sessions, and collaborative assistance. These networking opportunities provide valuable support to system operators navigating complex state and federal regulations while maintaining quality water service.

Each February, MWUA hosts a major waterworks trade show in Portland, Maine, attracting exhibitors from across the United States and Canada, along with water professionals from throughout the Northeast region.

The association's mission is to represent water professionals in upholding safe municipal water through education, legislation, policy development, and networking. MWUA aims to be the leading organization for informing members and influencing policymakers, regulators, and media on issues related to public water supply and water resources.

MWUA's governance structure includes professional staff (an Executive Director and Executive Assistant) supported by various volunteer committees working together to achieve strategic objectives.

Maine CDC Tap Water Info

For more information on your municipal water, visit the U.S. CDC:

Maine Water Company Camden & Rockland Municipal Water Company and CDC
  1. I have low water pressure. What could be causing this? First, verify all water fixtures are turned off on your property (including dishwashers, washing machines, faucets, etc.). Next, check your water meter by lifting the lid and observing the small purple wheel on the meter face. If it's rotating, you likely have a plumbing leak. If not, please contact our office for assistance.
  2. Why is my water appearing orange or rusty? This discoloration typically results from iron deposits breaking loose in the water lines. While aesthetically unpleasant and problematic for laundry, it remains safe to drink. Please notify our office if you experience this issue. If you've already washed clothes, DO NOT DRY them - we offer complementary rust remover for WHITE garments.
  3. How can I determine my water's hardness level? Contact our office with your location information, and we can provide specific hardness data for your area.
  4. What substances are added to my municipal water? We add chlorine as a disinfectant for your safety. While we don't add fluoride, it naturally occurs in our water supply.

Camden & Rockland Water District takes its responsibility to provide clean, reliable municipal water very seriously. We publish an annual consumer confidence report detailing water quality information.
