About Us
Marco Rural Water Company maintains a SCDHEC certified testing laboratory staffed by certified professionals who analyze required water quality parameters. All water plants and distribution systems are inspected by certified staff holding at least a "D" level certification as mandated by SCDHEC regulations.
Our company implements a comprehensive blow-off and hydrant flushing program to ensure water quality and proper hydrant operation. We also maintain a cross-connection/backflow prevention program to protect the water supply. Cross-connections occur whenever a drinking water line connects to any water source of questionable quality, with outdoor spigots and garden hoses being common sources of contamination in residential settings.
Marco has thoroughly assessed all commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities in our service area to identify and address potential cross-connections. Each backflow prevention device is inspected and tested annually in compliance with SCDHEC requirements. This annual Water Quality Report details our water quality findings and is provided to keep consumers informed about our efforts to deliver safe drinking water. Questions regarding this report should be directed to Robert Winkeler, General Manager, at (843) 423-4680 during business hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
We invite all customers to participate in our monthly board meetings (third Monday at 7:00 p.m.) at our office on 1935 Senator Gasque Road, or attend the annual membership meeting at the Marion/Mullins Business Center on Highway 76 in Marion.

Our water, like all sources, may contain small amounts of certain substances as it travels over land or underground. The EPA sets strict limits on contaminant levels to ensure public safety, and our testing confirms we meet these standards.
