About Us
Chester County Sewage Recovery (CWR) has initiated an ambitious infrastructure expansion project to improve regional wastewater management. The comprehensive project includes:
- 7,000 feet of 21-inch gravity wastewater pipeline
- 260 feet of 36-inch gravity sewage line
- 4,400 feet of 18" gravity wastewater collection system
- 56 new manholes throughout the service area
- A new 1,000 gallon per minute wastewater pump station
- 5,850 feet of 10-inch pressure main
- 9,881 feet of 8-inch gravity sewage line
The pressure main and gravity wastewater lines will be constructed on easements acquired by CWR and within the existing SCDOT right-of-way along Highway 9, west of Carolina Poly property. The land for the pump station has already been secured.
As an additional benefit, this infrastructure will support three certified industrial sites, including the Roseburg Forest Products location. On July 11th, 2017, Oregon-based Roseburg Forest Products announced their expansion with a new engineered wood products facility in Chester. Groundbreaking for this state-of-the-art factory occurred in Q1 2018, with operations beginning mid-2019, creating 148 full-time positions.
This $5,506,006 project aims to enhance community development and improve quality of life as Chester transitions from a textile-focused economy to a more diverse industrial base. Funding comes from multiple sources: $500,000 SCRIA grant, $2,912,165 EDA funding, $75,000 Utility Tax Credit grant from Duke Energy, $25,000 UTC grant from TruVista Communications, with remaining funds provided by CWR.
These strategic partnerships provide essential financial support to continue our shared mission of creating economic development opportunities and improving Chester's future.
