  2. How frequently am I billed for Water and Sewer services? Residential customers receive bills twice yearly - in May and November. Larger volume users receive monthly bills.
  3. When should I pay my Water and Sewer bill? All bills must be paid within 30 days from the first day of the billing month.
  4. Where does my tap water originate? Middletown currently utilizes two active sources: Mount Higby Reservoir and the River Road Well fields. Additional information is available in our water quality reports.
  5. What should I do if my water appears discolored or has an unusual taste? Please contact the Water Resources Superintendent with all Water Quality concerns at 860-638-3500.
  6. What if sewage is backing up into my home? There are two types of sewage backups. Internal plumbing issues occur only when using fixtures inside your home - contact a plumber for these issues. If sewage from the City Sewer System is backing up into your home, contact the Sewer Department at 860-638-3500 during business hours, or call Central Dispatch at 860-346-8621 after hours.
  7. What fee applies to connect to the Sanitary Sewer System? The standard Residential Fee for Sanitary Sewer Service connection is $3,500. Different fees may apply for commercial and industrial connections. Contact the Engineering Division for details.
  8. What is the cost to connect to the Public Water System? The Standard Residential Fee for Water Service connection is $3,250. Other fees may apply for commercial and industrial connections. Please contact the Engineering Division for more information.
  9. Why is my water usage unusually high? Several factors could cause elevated usage readings, including leaking toilets or plumbing fixtures, excessive summer lawn watering, or possibly a meter reading error. For questions about usage, please contact our Water Department's Billing Personnel who will gladly verify your reading.
