HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED? The Northwest Utilities District Board of Commissioners serves staggered 5-year terms. Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every other month beginning January 2018. Community members are welcome to attend these sessions.

Board positions are appointed by the Hamilton County Mayor. Customer complaints addressed by the Board of Commissioners under the District's complaint policy may be reviewed by the Utility Management Review Board of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation according to Section 7-82-702(7) of Tennessee Code Annotated.

POTENTIAL CONTAMINANTS IN SOURCE WATER:

  • Microbial contaminants such as viruses and bacteria from sewage facilities, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
  • Inorganic contaminants including salts and metals that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, industrial discharge, or agricultural activities
  • Pesticides and herbicides from various sources including farming, urban stormwater, and residential usage
  • Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile compounds from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, and septic systems
  • Radioactive substances that may be naturally occurring or result from oil/gas production and mining operations
