Georgia Water Utility Companies

Notla Water Authority (previously known as Notla Drinking water Association) was established in 1965. Throughout its 53-year history, Union County has undergone numerous transformations, with one critical constant: residents can consistently access safe, high-quality water.

Today, just as in previous years, NWA's dedicated team of employees and board members works tirelessly to enhance system efficiency while delivering clean, safe, and reliable water. Currently, NWA customers receive a blend of water from the surface water treatment facility and groundwater wells distributed across the system.

The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) mandates all Community Water Systems to provide customers with an annual Water Quality Report. This document contains vital information allowing consumers to make informed health decisions about their water consumption by explaining water sources, content, and the risks that testing and treatment procedures address.

All water, including bottled varieties, may reasonably contain minimal amounts of certain contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For additional information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (1-800-426-4791).

Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. Immunocompromised persons, such as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders, some elderly individuals, and infants may face increased infection risks. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers regarding water consumption. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate measures to reduce infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (1-800-426-4791).

For more information about the system or this report, please contact Jennifer Maier at (706) 745-4598. Board meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of each month at NWA's office. Please call for meeting times.

Notla Water Authority Municipal Water Report Information

Notla Water Authority (formerly Notla Water Association) was established in 1965 by the Notla Water Authority act (house bill no. 1534), as documented in Georgia Laws 1972 session, volume two pages 3385 through 3402.

In the 54 years since Notla Water Authority's founding, Union County has experienced numerous changes. Perhaps most significant is that residents now have assurance that a safe, quality water supply will consistently be available for their use. Today, as in years past, the NWA team of committed employees and board members works diligently to improve system effectiveness and deliver clean, safe, and reliable municipal water.

Currently, the water system maintains over 500 miles of main distribution lines. Three wells draw groundwater from unconfined crystalline rock aquifers, with a combined pumping capacity of 800,000 to 1.2 million gallons per day. Total storage capacity reaches 2.55 million gallons. The surface water treatment facility adjacent to Nottely Dam draws water from Lake Nottely for processing.

NWA provides dependable water service to more than 5,445 commercial and residential meters. The authority now operates a State-certified bacteriological testing laboratory that enhances the system and offers testing services to residents and surrounding areas.

We appreciate your business and continued support, and look forward to providing all customers with excellent water quality. For questions or concerns, please contact our office at (706) 745-4598.
