CUSTOMER SERVICE

1. What is a Service Charge?
   This is a fee for the basic maintenance of the District (staff, materials, equipment, etc.)
2. How often do you send out bills?
   Monthly, for both residential and commercial accounts.
3. When is my bill due?
   Bills are due and payable 20 days after the billing date.
4. Can I pay more than what's due on my account?
   Yes. Your account will be credited for future bills.
5. I've noticed my bill has doubled this month. Why?
   You may have a leak somewhere in your home, possibly your toilet. Check your meter while all water is turned off - if the dial is spinning, you have a leak. Contact a plumber for repairs.
6. I've fixed a leak in my house. Can I get an adjustment?
   Please send a copy of the repair receipt with a letter explaining your request. We'll review your request, but any adjustment made is typically a one-time accommodation only.
7. I'm doing construction, can I get a Temporary Meter?
   Yes. There's an $800 deposit required. Visit our office to sign up and obtain the meter. Water usage will be deducted from your deposit.

WATER QUALITY

1. Does the area have hard or soft water?
   Our water is considered soft water. For dishwashers, there are approximately 3-5 grains per gallon.
2. My water is coming out brown. What should I do?
   Someone may have opened a fire hydrant in your area, stirring up sediment from the pipes. Run your outdoor hose until the water runs clear, or run the faucet closest to your meter. If discoloration appears only in hot water, try flushing your water heater. For persistent issues, you may need to consult a plumber about your home's pipes.
3. My water appears cloudy. What's wrong?
   This is typically due to air bubbles in the water. When maintenance is performed on water pipes, air can enter the system causing a temporary milky appearance that should clear quickly.
4. What causes odor in hot water?
   The most common cause is your water heater. If cold water smells fine, check your water heater's temperature setting and ensure it's properly maintained according to manufacturer instructions. Contact the District if odors persist in both hot and cold water.

WATER CONSERVATION

1. How can I tell if my toilet leaks?
   Listen for running water sounds. You can also place food coloring drops in the tank without flushing - if color appears in the bowl, you have a leak.
2. Where can I get conservation materials or assistance?
   Visit our conservation webpage for information about available rebates and water-saving programs, or visit our customer service desk at our District offices.

OTHER INFORMATION

1. The lid to my meter box is broken. Can you fix it?
   Yes. The meter and meter box are our responsibility, and we'll repair it.
2. Can I turn on or shut off my meter?
   No. For emergencies or if you need water shut off/turned on, contact our district office at (606) 474-7570. Calls outside business hours will be forwarded to our answering service and on-call personnel. Please don't attempt to operate the water meter yourself as damage may result in charges.
3. Who's responsible for which pipes?
   The District is responsible for pipes on the "street side" of your water meter, including service lines and water mains throughout the community, plus the meter itself. Report leaks in the street or near your meter to the District. Property owners are typically responsible for all plumbing on the "customer side" of the meter, including interior home plumbing, outdoor irrigation systems, and connections to the water meter.
4. I'm experiencing water pressure problems. What can I do?
   Call the District to schedule an appointment with a field technician who can check if your pressure regulator valve needs adjustment.
