Louisiana Water Utility Companies

We are pleased to present the Annual Water Quality Report for 2017. This document is designed to inform you about your water quality and the services we deliver daily. Our ongoing goal is to provide safe, reliable municipal water to all customers.

We strive to continuously enhance our water treatment process and protect our valuable water resources. A Source Water Assessment Plan (SWAP) is available at our office, which evaluates potential contamination sources near our water supply. Our system received a 'MEDIUM' susceptibility rating according to this assessment.

To ensure tap water safety, the EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. FDA regulations set similar standards for bottled water. If you have questions about this report or want to learn more about your water utility, please contact Ronny Walker at 318-251-8621.

Important health information: Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. People with compromised immune systems, including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, some elderly individuals, and infants may face increased infection risks. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers regarding municipal water consumption.

If present, elevated lead levels can cause serious health issues, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in water primarily comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing. While we provide quality water, we cannot control the components used in household plumbing. You can minimize potential lead exposure by running your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for consumption.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals routinely monitors your water according to Federal and State laws. We at Ruston Water System work around the clock to deliver quality municipal water to every tap and appreciate all our customers helping protect our essential water resources.
