The Sayreville community proudly presents our 2017 Consumer Confidence Report. For clarification on technical terminology, please contact Robert Smith at the Water Treatment Plant at (732) 390-7067 between 12:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Borough Council meetings occur on the second and fourth Monday monthly at Borough Hall, 167 Main Road, with the Water Committee in attendance. Our water source comes from the Duhernal Water System wells, part of the Old Bridge Sands and Farrington Aquifers.

Our 14-MGD (million gallons per day) treatment facility operates continuously, following EPA/NJDEP guidelines to ensure water safety. We consistently monitor contaminants according to State and Federal regulations for your protection, with this report covering January 1 through December 31, 2017.

As water travels across land and through ground sources including rivers, lakes, streams, and wells, it naturally collects substances from both natural environments and human activities. While all water contains some trace elements, their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health concern.

Special Health Considerations: Children may consume more water per pound of body weight than adults, potentially receiving higher contaminant exposure. For this reason, reproductive and developmental effects are prioritized when establishing water standards. For contaminants with limited toxicity data, additional safety factors may be incorporated.

Nitrate Information: Nitrate levels exceeding 10 ppm pose health risks to infants under six months, potentially causing blue baby syndrome. Nitrate concentrations can spike during rainfall or agricultural activity periods. Parents caring for infants should consult their physicians if concerned.
