Soquel Creek Water District
About Us
In 2015, the District updated its source water assessments for 13 wells, originally conducted in 2002. Two additional wells received initial assessments in 2011. These evaluations identify potential threats to drinking water wells.
Aromas Red Sands Aquifer:
These water sources are considered most vulnerable to contamination from residential septic systems and potential sewer line leakage. Some wells face additional risks from nearby parks, golf courses, irrigated crops, fertilizer/pesticide applications, high-density housing, transportation corridors, other wells, and chemicals used at water treatment facilities.
Purisima Formation:
These supplies are most susceptible to contamination from dry cleaning operations, current and former gas stations, auto repair shops, sewer systems, photo processing facilities, printing businesses, densely populated areas, transportation corridors, parking areas, other wells, and utility maintenance zones.
Vulnerability Summaries can be accessed on the District's website at: http://www.soquelcreekwater.org/documents/reports?- field_report_type_value=Water+Quality&keys=- source+water&=Search. Complete reports are available by contacting the District office.
