California Water Utility Companies

The municipal water in Ceres is treated and distributed through approximately 154 kilometers of water transmission lines. To maintain superior water quality, Department staff continuously monitors the treatment process, implementing adjustments when necessary.

In 2017 alone, staff conducted 4,344 water quality tests to ensure proper monitoring throughout the transmission system. Through this vigilant process, the Water Division guarantees that all water delivered to customers meets safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Last year, Ceres pumped 2.1 million gallons of water for residential and commercial users, averaging 5.8 million gallons daily. As part of their ongoing quality program, the Department conducts year-round flushing operations to remove naturally-occurring sediments that might cause discoloration or taste issues.

These flushing operations are also crucial to the hydrant maintenance program, ensuring sufficient water flow for firefighting emergencies. The City actively enforces annual testing compliance for hundreds of backflow prevention assemblies throughout Ceres, protecting against potential cross-connection hazards where consumer drinking water could mix with contaminated sources.
