What is needed to temporarily turn on water service for an empty house or maintenance work?

The city offers a temporary account for 2 weeks requiring a $15 service fee plus $40 deposit. After account closure, water and sewer charges are deducted from your deposit.

What's required to establish an additional account at another address?

Current customers with perfect payment history for the past 12 months can establish additional accounts with just a $15 service fee billed to the new account. Others will need the service fee plus an appropriate deposit (residential - $75, small commercial - $100, large commercial - varies).

Can I get a bill adjustment for a leak?

The city provides adjustments for water or sewer charges when leaks occur. Note that residential customers have a 10,000 gallon maximum for sewer service, so any reduction in sewer bills may be minimal.

Does the city accommodate hardship cases?

The city works with customers experiencing payment difficulties by offering extensions and payment plans up to three months. However, fees cannot be reduced or eliminated due to hardship.

How do I establish service with a delinquent bill from a previous account?

Pay the overdue amount plus a deposit of twice the standard amount to establish new service.

What's required to restore service after disconnection for non-payment?

Pay the outstanding amount plus a $35 reconnect fee. Service will resume the same day if payment is received before 3 p.m., or the next business day for payments after 3 p.m.

Can I turn water service back on myself?

No. Only city personnel may restore service. Tampering with meters risks damage and is considered theft of service.

Why wasn't I personally notified before disconnection?

A disconnect notice is mailed after the payment due date, indicating the amount due and disconnection date. This is your only notification. Field staff cannot collect payments or negotiate terms.

What if I can't pay before the disconnect date?

Submit a written extension request by mail, email, or fax before the business day listed on your disconnection notice.

Why are my water bills unusually high?

  1. Irrigation system usage
  2. Changes in household occupancy
  3. Plumbing system or fixture leaks
  4. Incorrect irrigation controller settings

How can I conserve water?

The city provides water conservation information for homes and businesses. Using less water reduces your monthly bills and helps postpone municipal infrastructure expansion costs. Visit the city website for conservation tips.
