This report contains vital information about your water quality. Si necesita traducción, comuníquese con alguien que pueda ayudarle a entender esta información importante. (This report contains extremely important information about your water. Please find translation assistance if needed.)

We're pleased to present our Annual Water Quality Report and proud to confirm our water meets all Federal and State requirements. Our goal remains providing safe, reliable municipal water to our customers from the Crucible Plant, which draws surface water from the Monongahela River.

Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority continuously monitors water quality in compliance with federal and state regulations. The table below shows monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2017. All water sources, including bottled water, naturally contain small amounts of some substances. These don't necessarily indicate health risks.

Water sources can be affected by natural or man-made contaminants including microorganisms, organic/inorganic chemicals, and radioactive materials. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

Our team works around the clock to deliver quality water. We ask all residents to help protect our water resources, which are essential to our community and future generations.

Understanding Water Quality Terms:

  • ppm (parts per million): equivalent to one minute in 2 years
  • ppb (parts per billion): equivalent to one minute in 2,000 years
  • pCi/L: measurement of radioactivity in water
  • NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Unit): measures water clarity
  • AL (Action Level): contaminant concentration triggering treatment requirements
  • TT (Treatment Technique): required process to reduce contaminant levels
  • MCL (Maximum Contaminant Level): highest allowable contaminant level
  • MCLG (Maximum Contaminant Level Goal): contaminant level with no known health risks
  • MRDL/MRDLG: disinfectant level standards

Certain individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants, including those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, elderly persons, and infants. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers about their drinking water.

For questions about this report or our water utility, please contact our Supervisor at (724) 883-2301. We encourage our customers to stay informed about their water. Authority meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 5:00 PM at 1442 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA.

What Is A Chamber of Commerce? It functions as a community's business advocate, serving as a vehicle for achieving shared goals that enhance the community. Its primary purposes include:

  • Stimulating business growth and job development
  • Supporting orderly community growth
  • Building healthy markets for economic stability
  • Preserving private enterprise and competitive markets

Volunteerism and community contribution form the foundation of a chamber of commerce. The organization is governed by a board of Directors elected by chamber members. Membership is available to any individual or business interested in community improvement.

Members contribute annual dues to support operations and receive various benefits, including free or discounted services, publications, and events. The board establishes policies implemented by the Community Outreach Coordinator and staff, who collaborate with volunteers on projects and initiatives.

A chamber's activities are determined by community needs and organizational capacity. Projects undergo thorough analysis before implementation. Chambers serve as civic clearinghouses, public relations consultants, legislative representatives, and research and promotion entities.

Simply put, a chamber represents people working together to create a better community in which to live, work, and invest.
