The Tifton Tift County Water Department is pleased to report that your municipal water had no violations of quality standards during 2017. This report provides information about your water's source, composition, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Your water is drawn from eight municipal groundwater wells that tap into the Floridian Aquifer. The City enhances water quality by adding fluoride, chlorine, and phosphate. The City Council holds monthly meetings where water quality matters are discussed with the public when relevant.

Our "Wellhead Protection Plan" has received a State Susceptibility Ranking of low. For well location maps or additional information about your water supply, please contact the Utilities Department at (229) 391-3949.

All water sources, including bottled water, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791 or visit www.epa.gov/safewater.

Certain populations may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general public. Immunocompromised individuals, including those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, some elderly persons, and infants may face increased infection risks. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers about their drinking water. EPA/CDC guidelines on reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline.

To ensure your tap water meets safety standards, the EPA enforces regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. The attached list shows all contaminants detected in our water during 2017, though their presence doesn't necessarily indicate any health risk.
