About Us
The Union City Municipal Water System (WSID#: GA1210010) is pleased to report that your community's water met or exceeded all safety and quality standards established by Georgia and EPA regulations during the past year. This 2015 Water Quality Report provides residents with detailed scientific data from all water quality testing conducted throughout the previous year.
Our dedicated staff is committed to delivering safe, reliable tap water year-round and takes pride in providing this information. For any questions about your water or this report, please contact Kenneth Johnson at (770) 306-6855.
Union City's water originates from the Chattahoochee River and is treated by the City of Atlanta. Atlanta processes raw water from the Chattahoochee at two treatment facilities: the Chattahoochee Plant and the Hemphill Plant. These facilities provide 74% of Atlanta's water supply, with the remainder coming from the Atlanta Fulton County Water Treatment Plant, which primarily serves northeast Atlanta.
The treated water travels through Atlanta's distribution network and connects to Union City's system via ten master meters positioned strategically around Union City. This water consistently meets or surpasses all federal and state safety standards before entering Union City's distribution system, where additional testing ensures continued safety and quality compliance under the Georgia Safe Drinking Water Act of 1977 and the Rules for Safe Drinking Water Supply.

Union City Drinking Water Company and CDCWhat is the Northtown Municipal Utility District?
The Northtown Municipal Utility District was established in 1985. Its approximately 1224 acres are situated east of Interstate 35 between Austin and Pflugerville, bordered by Howard Lane to the south and Highway 685/Dessau Road to the east. The district encompasses Northtown Park, Meadow Pointe, Wildflower, Settler's Meadow (The Trails at Sunset Ridge), The Lakes at Northtown, and the Brookfield neighborhoods, along with multiple parks, a hike and bike trail, and still has room for growth. Future development may include multi-family housing, light retail, and potentially a fire/EMS station.
Who manages the district?
You do! The Northtown MUD is governed by a Board of Directors. The five elected directors partner with various professional organizations and consultants to provide management, billing, legal, financial, engineering, maintenance and other services to the district.
When and where does the Board meet?
The Northtown MUD Board of Directors meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the Northtown MUD Administrative Office, located at the Wells Branch Tech Center. These meetings are open to the public and begin at 5:45 p.m.
About Residential Service
- What services does the district provide? The Northtown MUD provides water and wastewater (sewer) services, solid waste (trash) and recycling collection, parks maintenance and upkeep, and enforcement of restrictive covenants (deed restrictions).
- What do these services cost? The district's basic service fee includes the water connection, solid waste pickup, and the first 1,000 gallons of wastewater. Charges for water usage are based on the volume of gallons used and are divided into several rate categories. Detailed information about the district's residential and commercial regulations, rates, fees and service charges can be found in the district's Rate Order.
- Where do I pay my bill? Your Northtown MUD utility payment should be mailed to the address on the bill. You can also pay your bill in person at the offices of Crossroads Utility Services. For your convenience, a payment dropbox is provided at the Wells Branch Tech Center.
About Security and Hazardous Waste
Is my neighborhood safe? Living near a major metropolitan center means you're close to both positive and challenging aspects of urban life. Overall, however, the Northtown neighborhoods are safe and peaceful communities to live and raise a family. The Northtown MUD contracts with off-duty officers from the Travis County Sheriff's Department to provide additional patrols of community streets and parks, creating something similar to having a neighborhood police department.
For environmental concerns, you can report any pollution issues or hazardous waste sightings to the State of Texas Spill Reporting Hotline at 1-800-832-8224. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) provides additional information and resources on spills on their website. Details on the District's regulations and procedures can be found in its Stormwater Management Plan.
