Tennessee Water Utility Companies

Your municipal water, which comes from surface water, is sourced from Old Hickory Lake (shown on the right) at a location near Rockland Road in Hendersonville, where our treatment facility operates. We're committed to protecting your water from potential contaminants and collaborate continuously with Tennessee officials to monitor vulnerability factors.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has developed a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for untreated water sources serving our system. This SWAP Report evaluates the susceptibility of raw water sources to possible contamination. The White House Utility District source is currently rated as moderately vulnerable to potential contamination.

To ensure safe municipal water, all public systems treat and regularly test their water supply. For more information about Tennessee's Source Water Assessment Program, including summaries, vulnerability scores, and the general TDEC report to the EPA, please visit https://www.Tn.Gov/environment/program-areas/wr-water-resources/waterquality/sourcewater-assessment.html.

Note: In 2017, WHUD also purchased water from Hendersonville Utility District (HUD), so HUD's water quality information is included on the back page of this report.

White House Utility District Municipal Water Report Info

White House Utility District is geographically Tennessee's largest water and sewer utility, serving Robertson and Sumner Counties. The District encompasses over 600 square miles including Cross Plains, Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Greenbrier, Hendersonville, Millersville, Orlinda, Portland, Springfield, and White House.

We take our responsibility seriously to produce and deliver water that is consistently safe and high-quality. Our commitment extends not just to present needs but to future generations as well. WHUD recognizes the vital role water plays in our community's health, life, and vitality, and understands that maintaining a plentiful water supply is crucial to preserving our quality of life.

As the geographically largest utility district in Tennessee, our service area covers 600 square miles—almost twice the size of New York City (which is just over 300 square miles). This vast coverage means we pump water over considerable distances. From our water treatment plant on Rockland Road in Hendersonville, we transport water 40 miles north to the Kentucky state line, nearly 20 miles east, roughly 15 miles west, and several miles south to the Cages and Douglas Bend areas in Gallatin.

Our infrastructure consists of 1,042 miles of pipes, along with numerous tanks, pump stations, valves, and pumps requiring constant maintenance. To put this in perspective, that's greater than the distance from White House, TN to Ottawa, Canada (1011 miles).
