About Us
Municipal water, including bottled varieties, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more detailed information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Municipal Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
Here's some important information about Aquarion's water quality:
Where does your water come from?
Your water is collected from wells, undergoes treatment, and is delivered through an underground piping network. The Valley View System serves approximately 130 residents in Mansfield with an average daily demand of 3,400 gallons. System-wide, about 13.8% of water is used for firefighting, main cleaning, pipe breaks, leaks, and unauthorized usage.
Treatment Process
Well water undergoes natural underground filtration, then receives additional treatment to remove iron. The company maintains strict compliance with state and federal health standards.
Disinfection By-Products
DBPs form when organic matter reacts with chlorine during disinfection. Regulations limit Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) and Total Haloacetic Acids (THAA) due to potential health risks with long-term exposure. Aquarion continually evaluates its systems to ensure DBP compliance with updated regulations designed to enhance protection against associated health concerns.
Source Water Assessment
Connecticut's Department of Public Health reports that public water sources in the Valley View System have low susceptibility to potential contaminants. The full DPH assessment is available at ct.gov/dph.
