About Us
Water distribution mains deliver water to homes, businesses, and hydrants throughout your neighborhood. While the water entering these mains is thoroughly treated and tested, water quality can deteriorate in certain sections over time. Regular main flushing is essential for maintaining water quality.
Main flushing involves sending rapid water flows through pipes to remove accumulated sediments such as iron and manganese. Though these minerals don't pose health risks, they can affect taste, clarity, and color of your water. Additionally, sediment buildup can shield microorganisms from chlorine disinfection, potentially allowing microbial growth.
Flushing also helps:
- Remove stagnant water
- Ensure proper dissolved oxygen levels
- Maintain adequate disinfectant concentration
- Preserve appropriate taste and odor characteristics
During flushing operations in your area, temporary water quality changes may occur. We recommend avoiding tap water usage during this time. If necessary, run cold water at full volume for several minutes before use, and avoid hot water to prevent sediment buildup in your water heater. Please contact our customer service team with any questions about our flushing schedule.

Bradfordville Regional WS Municipal Water Company and EPABradfordville Regional WS Municipal Water Report Information
The story begins in the 1930s when rural areas struggled to receive utility services due to economic feasibility concerns. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Rural Electrification Administration (REA) on May 11, 1935, it created opportunities for underserved communities.
Talquin Electric Cooperative, Inc. formed in June 1940 when 200 rural residents united to create an electric cooperative. They organized during a special meeting in Quincy, convened by Gadsden County Agent H.E. Hudson and Home Demonstration Agent Elise Laffitte, with assistance from REA Financial Advisor Harold Clark who explained the cooperative's organization and funding process.
The cooperative expanded into Liberty, Leon, and Wakulla counties. After more than 75 years, we remain a not-for-profit, democratically controlled organization owned by those we serve. Membership still costs just $5.00, as it did then. We continue to adhere to the seven cooperative principles, existing to empower communities and enhance our members' quality of life.
