Oregon Water Utility Companies

Canby Power is dedicated to delivering high-quality water to enhance your health and safety. We take this responsibility seriously and pride ourselves on maintaining excellent water quality standards.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires all community water systems to provide customers with an annual water quality report. Last year, our tap water met or exceeded all EPA and State health standards, with no water quality violations identified by independent testing laboratories.

Important Health Information: Municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. We work diligently with advanced treatment equipment to minimize contaminant levels in our source water. All detected contaminants remained well below Federal and State standards.

For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791. Certain populations may be more vulnerable to contaminants, including those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, elderly individuals, and infants. These groups should consult healthcare providers about their water consumption.

Our Water Source: All municipal water originates from the Molalla River. The watershed spans 344 square miles within Clackamas County, with headwaters beginning southwest of Mt. Hood. After 30+ years of monitoring, we've identified the Molalla River as one of Oregon's highest-quality water sources. River water undergoes filtration, treatment, and disinfection using both Chlorine and Ultraviolet Light (UV) Technology before distribution through our 65+ miles of underground pipelines.

Source Water Assessment: A resource assessment was completed in 2000 by state environmental agencies to identify surface and subsurface areas supplying our Water Treatment Plant. This assessment helps prioritize areas most vulnerable to potential impacts and forms the basis for a voluntary Water Protection Plan. The assessment is available for review at the City of Canby Library and our main office.

Lead Information: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in water primarily comes from materials in service lines and household plumbing. While Canby Utility provides quality water, we cannot control plumbing component materials. If water has been sitting for several hours, minimize lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for consumption. For more information on lead testing and exposure reduction, visit http://www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.
