About Us
The City of Bismarck maintains a comprehensive monitoring program for its untreated water supply. As part of Round 2 of the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, the city regularly tests for microbiological contaminants.
In 2017, nine samples were collected from the horizontal collector well and tested for Cryptosporidium, with no detections found. Cryptosporidium is a microbial parasite commonly present in surface water across the United States. While filtration systems remove Cryptosporidium, even advanced filtration methods cannot guarantee 100% removal.
The same nine samples were also analyzed for Giardia and E. coli, with no detections of either contaminant. Giardia is another common parasite found in surface water, while E. coli serves as an indicator of potential contamination from warm-blooded animals. The city's filtration and chlorination processes effectively remove and neutralize these potential threats.
We encourage public participation in decisions affecting our water supply. City Commission meetings occur on the second and fourth Tuesday monthly at the Mary Baker Meeting Room (City/County Building, 221 North 5th Street). These sessions are open to the public and broadcast on Dakota Media Access, Channel 2.

Lewisville Western Days festival is a 2-day event featuring premium music, quality food, and activities for the entire family. Held annually in Old Town Lewisville, the celebration offers five entertainment stages, tamale eating competitions, car shows and more for the 20,000 attendees.

The Western Days festival takes place in historic Old Town Lewisville along Church and Main Streets.
What are the dates and times?
The 2019 festival runs Friday, September 27, 5 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

What's the admission cost?
Admission to Western Days is FREE until 7 p.m. daily with a ticket! You only pay for food, beverages, and children's activity wristbands. After 7 p.m., admission is $10 per person, except for children 12 and younger who are always free.
Is parking available?
Free parking is available around the event but extremely limited. All attendees are encouraged to use the FREE shuttle service running Friday and Saturday.
Are ATMs available?
Yes, ATMs will be available throughout the festival grounds.
How can I volunteer?
We're always seeking volunteers to help the festival run smoothly. Volunteers receive complimentary meals and beverages, a festival T-shirt, and recognition in local media in exchange for serving at least one 4-hour shift.
Are personal chairs allowed?
Yes, attendees may bring personal chairs for the main stage viewing area.
Are coolers permitted?
Due to large crowds, coolers are not allowed. Outside beverages are also prohibited per TABC guidelines.
Are pets welcome?
Yes, pets are allowed but must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. Pets are not permitted on shuttle vehicles.
Is this event family-friendly?
Yes, Western Days is family-friendly with a dedicated Kid Kountry area. Wristbands ($12) provide access to children's activities for both festival days, with reduced pricing ($7) available Saturday evening.
