About Us
The City of Burleson Water Department's primary mission is delivering safe, reliable municipal water that meets or exceeds all state and federal quality standards. This summary presents the quality analysis of water we provide to our customers, using data from the most recent EPA-mandated testing.
Our water source comes from purchased surface water from the City of Fort Worth. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has assessed Fort Worth's source waters, which include Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, Richland Chambers Reservoir, Cedar Creek Reservoir, Lake Benbrook, and the Clear Fork Trinity River.
TCEQ has classified our source water as high-risk for most contaminants due to nearby activities that could potentially allow chemical constituents to contact the water source. This classification doesn't indicate existing health risks, but rather describes susceptibility based on human activities and natural conditions in the watershed.
Special Notice for Vulnerable Populations: Elderly individuals, infants, cancer patients, those with HIV/AIDS, or others with compromised immune systems may be more susceptible to certain microbial contaminants, including Cryptosporidium. If you fall into these categories, consider consulting your healthcare provider about your water consumption. Lead in Drinking Water: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health issues, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead in tap water primarily comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing components. While we provide high-quality water, we cannot control the materials used in plumbing fixtures. If your water has been sitting for several hours, minimize lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.
Water Conservation Reminder: Watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. is restricted year-round in Burleson. City ordinance allows lawn and landscape irrigation only before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. throughout the year. Hand-held hoses, soaker hoses, and drip irrigation are permitted anytime. Efficient water use remains essential in all seasons.
