About Us
The City of Burlington is pleased to present our nineteenth annual water quality report, also known as the Customer Confidence Report (CCR). This document provides residents with a comprehensive overview of last year's water quality data.
Throughout 2017, Burlington delivered an average of 11.3 million gallons of water daily through more than 440 miles of water lines. Our peak distribution occurred on Monday, May 1, when we supplied over 14.9 million gallons into our distribution network.
Our mission is to provide uninterrupted access to safe, high-quality municipal water. We want residents to understand our ongoing efforts to improve water treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources.
Water sources in our region include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels across land surfaces or through underground layers, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and sometimes radioactive materials. These substances are carried as "contaminants" in the water supply.
While our treatment facilities effectively remove most contaminants, particularly harmful ones, trace amounts may remain after processing. All water, including bottled varieties, reasonably contains at least minimal levels of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
For additional information about contaminants and potential health effects, please contact the Environmental Protection Agency's Safe Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.
