Florida Water Utility Companies

The Utility doesn't have the final say regarding your water quality. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) establishes Federal standards that directly impact Coral Springs. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, working through the local County Health Department, reviews and approves plans for water supply infrastructure including wells, mains, and treatment facilities.

The City Utilities Department collaborates with the Broward County Health Office, which actively monitors water quality. Additionally, the South Florida Water Management District regulates groundwater extraction from the Biscayne Aquifer. The City operates under a Water Use Permit with specific conditions to protect this valuable natural resource.

Most importantly, the Safe Drinking Water Act (enacted December 1974) ensures that suppliers provide safe water to customers. The City of Coral Springs Facilities Division conducts regular contaminant monitoring according to Federal and State regulations. Each state may adopt standards at least as strict as the National Standards set by the Act. The table below shows monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2016.
