About Us
This report provides information about the quality of municipal water and services we deliver daily. We're pleased to present this annual water quality assessment to our customers. Our ongoing mission is to provide you with safe, dependable water. We want to inform you about our efforts to continuously enhance the water treatment process and protect our valuable water resources.
Our water comes from Lake Moultrie, a 60,000-acre freshwater reservoir within the Catawba-Santee basin. A Source Water Assessment has been completed for the Santee Cooper Regional Water System, available online at www.scdhec.gov/HomeAndEnvironment/Water/SourceWaterProtection/.
To deliver the highest quality water at the most reasonable cost, Berkeley County Water and Sanitation Authority, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner Public Works Commission, and Summerville Commissioners of Public Works have partnered with Santee Cooper to develop the Santee Cooper Regional Water System. This system includes a 36-million-gallon daily surface water treatment facility and 26 miles of transmission pipeline, operational since 1994.
Your local utility distributes the treated water through approximately 600 miles of distribution lines. If you have questions about this report or your water provider, please contact your local utility listed inside this report. For more information, consider attending one of the regularly scheduled meetings also listed in this report.
The Santee Cooper Regional Water System and your local utility routinely monitor for substances in your water according to federal and state regulations. The enclosed table shows our monitoring results from January 1 to December 31. Some substances don't require annual testing, so the most recent results are provided. No reported results are more than 5 years old.
All municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
