The Margate Division of Environmental and Engineering Services (DEES) proudly presents the 2017 Water Quality Report. This document summarizes our water testing results, explains their significance, and provides an overview of our water supply sources and treatment processes.

Our mission is to consistently deliver safe, reliable water to our community. As demonstrated by the test results in this report, our water meets all Federal and State regulatory requirements. Our infrastructure improvements and system hardening allowed us to withstand Hurricane Irma without major operational disruptions, maintaining uninterrupted service to all residents and businesses in Margate's service area.

In 2017, the City awarded a contract to replace approximately 12,000 linear feet of aging water mains over an 18-month period. Additional plans for replacing 22,000 more linear feet of water mains are in various design stages, with construction expected to begin in 2018.

To enhance water system security and redundancy, we've established agreements with the Coral Springs Improvement District (CSID) and the City of Pompano Beach for emergency water system interconnections. These connections allow for the flow of potable water between municipalities during temporary emergencies.

Other infrastructure projects in our Capital Improvement Program include rehabilitation of utility aerial crossings over waterways, ongoing maintenance of our 12 raw water wells, replacement of potable water meters with an automated reading system, and upgrades to water treatment plant equipment.

We continue to encourage conservation through tiered water rates, offering lower rates for reduced consumption. In 2017, we issued 144 toilet replacement rebates and 353 water-saving devices to residents and businesses through our participation in the Broward County Water Partnership program.

For questions about this report or our services, please contact (954) 972-0828 or visit www.margatefl.com/dees. For billing inquiries, call (954) 972-6454.
