About Us
The City of Rock Hill Utilities Division is pleased to present our 2017 Water Quality Customer Confidence Report (CCR). This document provides essential information about your water's source, composition, and significance to public health.
Rock Hill Resources takes seriously the trust you place in our team to safeguard your water quality and reliability. Our protection process includes 24/7 monitoring of water treatment operations, 365 days per year. State-certified professionals use advanced monitoring systems to track treatment functions, storage levels, and system pressures. Our staff conducts over 700,000 tests annually to verify treatment efficacy and distribution system quality.
In the past year, we've continued our commitment to ensuring customers receive high-quality water with adequate pressure and supply. Currently, our Water Filter Plant (WFP) on Cherry Street handles peak demands of 28.8 million gallons daily (MGD), with maximum hourly demands reaching 33.7 MGD. As eastern York County grows, this peak continues to rise.
To meet projected demands, we began expanding the plant's treatment capacity from 36 to 48 MGD in February. The new filters should be operational by May 2019, with complete project finalization expected by February 2021. This expansion includes technological improvements and upgrades to our primary raw intake facility on Lake Wylie.
Additionally, five large-diameter waterline projects are underway to improve water transport efficiency from the WFP to customers. Two projects under construction are located along Eden Terrace/Myrtle Drive and University/Union Streets. Three more projects under design will transport water from the WFP along Mount Gallant Road to Dave Lyle Boulevard, along Eden Terrace to Cel-River Road, and along Mount Gallant Road between India Hook and Museum Roads.
The City of Rock Hill strives to provide uninterrupted access to safe drinking water. You can be confident that our municipal water consistently exceeds Federal and State regulatory requirements. We appreciate your business and trust.
