South Carolina Water Utility Companies

On May 25, 2010, during the regular meeting of the Commissioners of Public Works for Spartanburg, representatives from the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control presented the prestigious Consumer Confidence Report Excellence Award to Spartanburg Water's Regulatory Affairs Professional.

This recognition, awarded by EPA Region IV, honored Spartanburg Water's Landrum service area for having the best Consumer Confidence Report among Medium Surface Water Public Water Systems. The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is mandated by federal regulations, requiring community water systems to provide annual water quality information to customers.

Award criteria included comprehensive source water information, contamination susceptibility assessment, clear data presentation, and exceptional community education initiatives. The Landrum facility, acquired by Spartanburg Water in 2004, maintains standards exceeding current regulations, partly due to its participation in South Carolina's Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP).

Spartanburg Water continues its partnership with EPA and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) through the Partnership for Safe Water program, with the Landrum Treatment Facility having received the Director's Award for operational excellence and commitment to public health protection.
