Columbia/Adair Utilities District Municipal Water Report Info

Columbia Utilities has proudly served the City of Columbia's utility needs for decades. The Adair County Water District was established through a Fiscal Court petition in October 1971. Since then, the district has expanded significantly, now supporting over 7900 customers with more than 470 miles of water infrastructure.

In 2009, city and county officials initiated discussions about merging their systems. Water District Chief Executive Lenny Stone, working with County Judge Ann Melton, Columbia Mayor Pat Bell, and Attorney Damon Talley, spearheaded the consolidation effort. The merger was completed on July 30, 2010, creating a unified entity focused on meeting Adair County's comprehensive water and sewage requirements.
