Welcome to Village Water System Inc. We are a non-profit cooperative serving rural residential customers in the Princeton and Red Chute area of East Bossier Parish. Our mission is providing safe, clean water to area residents. Our offices are located on Hwy 80 in Haughton, Louisiana.

Village Water System, Inc. (VWS) is a non-profit member-owned water utility corporation established in 1967 to provide potable water to Haughton area citizens. Operating independently from nearby cities, we're governed by the Public Service Commission and a seven-member elected board. Through perpetual agreements with members, we're committed to serving all residences, businesses, and industries within our system boundaries.

Currently, we serve over 3,500 active meters supporting an estimated population exceeding 12,000 members. Our service area spans along the LA State Hwy 80/I-20 corridor, from Bossier City limits westward to just inside Webster Parish eastward, extending up to six miles north and south with I-20 forming most of our southern boundary.

Our infrastructure includes 18 wells and a distribution system featuring eight water plants and twelve storage tanks with capacity exceeding two million gallons. Monthly production averages approximately twenty million gallons during cooler months, increasing to over thirty million gallons during summer.

The Lions Club deserves credit for conceiving Village Water System Inc. and investing countless hours bringing it to fruition. The system began modestly with one 75,000-gallon elevated storage tank, 190,000 gallons of ground storage, and two wells. As a non-profit Louisiana corporation, we're governed by seven elected directors. Each customer is a shareholder entitled to vote at annual meetings. We were incorporated June 12, 1967.

Our groundwater system serves approximately 84 square miles from Old Bellevue/Bodcau Roads at U.S. HWY 80 in Bossier Parish to about half a mile east of Goodwill Road in Webster Parish. The service area extends generally four to six miles north of U.S. HWY 80.

We began in 1968 with 403 customers and our first $412,000 loan from the Farmers Home Administration. This funded two wells and an elevated storage tank. Well #1 and the elevated tank were constructed behind the telephone station on Chandler Road (hence "Telephone Hill plant"), while Well #2 was built at Rains Plaza. Since then, multiple loans and grants have supported our growth to over 3,500 active connections.

Today, our 18 wells draw from varying depths: 9 shallow wells (75' to 115') in Upland Terrace Deposits & Wilcox Terrace aquifers, and 9 deeper wells (308' to 461') in the Wilcox aquifer. Our average daily usage is approximately 950,000 gallons.
