The Curry Water System serves approximately 17,300 residents through 5,790 active connections across Walker and Winston County, Alabama. Their service extends to communities including Curry, South Lowell, Macedonia, Thach, Poplar Springs, Black Pond, Redmill, and western/southwestern portions of Lewis Smith Lake.

Initially designed in 1973 by Paul Krebs and Associates to accommodate 1,500 connections, construction was completed in July 1980 by Tucker Brothers Contracting Company. The original infrastructure featured a 300,000-gallon elevated tank in Curry and a 100,000-gallon tank in Thach, along with approximately 125 miles of distribution piping and two booster stations.

The Redmill extension, completed in November 1983 by Apel Machine and Supply Company, added a 500,000-gallon standpipe storage tank and roughly 85 additional miles of distribution lines. Currently, the system encompasses 8 storage tanks with 2.8 million gallons capacity and approximately 376 miles of distribution mains covering around 180 square miles.

Since 2011, the Authority has been seeking permission to withdraw water directly from Lewis Smith Lake to establish their own filtration plant. Presently, they purchase water from Jasper, which sources from Warrior River. The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm at their office.
