Tennessee Water Utility Companies

The Dyersburg Annual Water Quality Statement aims to inform customers about their water quality and available services. Our primary goal is to provide safe, reliable water while continuously improving treatment processes and protecting water sources.

Is your municipal water safe? YES! Dyersburg's water meets all EPA health standards. As shown in our quality reports, we detected only eight contaminants, all within safe levels.

Where does your water come from? Your municipal water is drawn from seven wells located within city limits. Each well extends over 600 feet deep into the Memphis Sand Aquifer. The Roger Hawkins Water Treatment Plant can produce up to 6 million gallons daily, while the Southern Main Plant can supply up to 5 million gallons per day.

The City maintains a wellhead protection plan available upon request. We work closely with the State to assess and reduce vulnerability to contamination. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Preservation (TDEC) has developed a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for our water system. This report rates our water sources as reasonably susceptible based on geological factors and nearby human activities.

For detailed information about Tennessee's Source Water Assessment Program, summaries, susceptibility ratings, and the TDEC report to EPA, visit www.tn.gov or contact Dyersburg Water System or TDEC at 1-888-891-TDEC.

Why do contaminants appear in my water? All water, including bottled water, naturally contains small amounts of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate health risks. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
