About Your District
EPCOR provides service to approximately 9,000 connections throughout the Anthem district.
Your Water Sources
Your primary water supply comes from the Colorado River via the Central Arizona Project (CAP), supplemented by City of Phoenix water and groundwater pumped from the Salt River Valley basin.
The Colorado River water travels from Lake Havasu through the CAP Canal to Lake Pleasant, creating a blend of Colorado River and Lake Pleasant water (which receives inflow from the Agua Fria River). This water travels through an 8-mile pipeline to the Anthem Water Treatment Plant, a state-of-the-art microfiltration facility designed to meet current and future quality standards.
The City of Phoenix connection supplies water through either the Union Hills Water Treatment Plant or Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant, both processing CAP Canal water.
Additionally, two wells provide groundwater from the Salt River Valley basin. This groundwater is recharged through natural stream flows, mountain front runoff, agricultural and urban use, and dedicated recharge facilities.
Source Water Assessment
In 2004, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) conducted a source water assessment of Anthem's two wells and surface water intake. The assessment evaluated nearby land uses that could potentially impact water sources, including gas stations, landfills, dry cleaners, agricultural areas, wastewater facilities, and mining operations.
Results showed the two wells had no concerning adjacent land uses, while the surface water intake had one high-risk adjacent land use. The complete assessment is available for public inspection at ADEQ offices in Phoenix.

Water Conservation Tips for Kitchen and Laundry
- Only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads
- When hand-washing dishes, use a basin for rinsing rather than running water
- Clean vegetables in a pan of water instead of under running water
- Keep drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap until cool
- Regularly check faucets and pipes for leaks, which often require only an inexpensive washer to fix
Outdoor Water Conservation Tips
- Water lawns only when needed – step on grass and if it springs back, it doesn't need watering
- Deep-soak your lawn to encourage deep root growth rather than frequent light sprinklings
- Water during cooler parts of the day, preferably early morning
- Position sprinklers to avoid watering paved areas and avoid watering on windy days
- Plant drought-resistant landscaping that requires less water
- Apply mulch around trees and plants to retain moisture and reduce weed growth
- Use a broom rather than hose to clean driveways and sidewalks
- Wash cars with a bucket of soapy water, using the hose only for rinsing
- Discourage children from playing with hoses and sprinklers for entertainment
- Regularly check for leaks in outdoor pipes, hoses, faucets and couplings
