About Your District
EPCOR provides service to approximately 9,000 connections in the Anthem district.
Water Sources
Your water comes primarily from the Colorado River via the Central Arizona Project (CAP), the City of Phoenix distribution system, and groundwater pumped from the Salt River Valley basin.
Colorado River & CAP Water
The majority of your water is Colorado River water delivered from Lake Havasu through the CAP Canal to Lake Pleasant. This water combines Colorado River and Lake Pleasant supplies, which receives additional water from the Agua Fria River. Water travels to Anthem through an eight-mile pipeline from the CAP Canal to the Anthem Water Treatment Plant - a modern microfiltration facility designed to meet current and future quality requirements.
City of Phoenix Connection
The Phoenix interconnection is supplied via the Union Hills Water Treatment Plant and/or Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant, both of which process water from the CAP Canal.
Groundwater Resources
Two wells supply groundwater from the Salt River Valley basin. This groundwater is recharged naturally from stream flows and mountain runoff, incidentally from agricultural and urban activities, and intentionally at designated recharge facilities.
Protecting Our Water Together
Both groundwater and its associated infrastructure require ongoing monitoring and maintenance. From main pipelines to neighborhood connections, wells to hydrants, we ensure the groundwater supply remains protected and accessible.

Epcor Water - Mohave Municipal Water Company and EPASource Water Assessment Notice
In 2004, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) completed a comprehensive assessment of the two wells and surface water intake used by EPCOR-Anthem. This evaluation reviewed adjacent land uses that might pose potential risks to water sources, including gas stations, landfills, dry cleaners, agricultural operations, wastewater facilities, and mining activities.
After identifying nearby land uses, ADEQ ranked them according to their potential impact on water resources. The assessment found that the two wells had no adjacent land uses of concern, while the surface water intake had one adjacent land use categorized as high risk.
The complete assessment is available for public inspection at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, 1110 W. Washington, Phoenix, AZ 85007, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For additional information, please contact ADEQ at 602-771-2300.
Understanding Your Water Sources
Municipal water—whether from your tap or bottled—originates from rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels across land or underground, it naturally collects minerals and, in some cases, radioactive materials or substances from animal or human activities.
All drinking water, including bottled varieties, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of certain contaminants. The presence of these substances doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more detailed information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
Municipal Water Utility Company FAQ

For more information on your municipal water, visit the U.S. CDC:
Epcor Water - Mohave Municipal Water Company and CDCSpecial Health Information
Some individuals may be more vulnerable to contaminants in municipal water than the general population. People with compromised immune systems—such as those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders, some elderly people, and infants—may face higher risks from infections.
These individuals should seek advice about municipal water from their healthcare providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate methods to reduce infection risk from cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
Lead in Water
EPCOR monitored water for lead and copper in 2017 at 30 representative properties throughout the community and met all federal standards. If your home was included in this sampling, you would have received the analysis results directly.
If present, elevated lead levels can cause serious health complications, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead in municipal water primarily comes from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. While EPCOR is responsible for providing high-quality municipal water, we cannot control the materials used in residential plumbing systems.
When your water has remained stagnant for several hours, you can minimize potential lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If concerned about lead in your water, consider having it tested. Information about lead in water, testing procedures, and steps to minimize exposure is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline or at www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.
Seasonal Changes
Because your water supply includes both surface water and groundwater, you may notice seasonal variations in hardness and taste. These differences between surface water and groundwater characteristics are normal and completely safe.
