About Us
About This Report: This document complies with national and EPA municipal water regulations, providing vital information about your water supply's origin, quality, and safety measures.
Your Water Sources:
- EPCOR serves approximately 9,000 connections in the Anthem district
- Water primarily comes from the Colorado River via the Central Arizona Project (CAP)
- Additional supply from City of Phoenix and groundwater from Salt River Valley basin
- Two wells draw from the Salt River Valley groundwater basin
Water Treatment: Colorado River water travels from Lake Havasu through the CAP Canal to Lake Pleasant, then through an 8-mile pipeline to the Anthem Water Treatment Plant. This microfiltration facility is designed to meet current and future water quality standards.
Groundwater Protection: Both groundwater sources and delivery infrastructure require regular monitoring and maintenance. The complex system includes pipelines, mains, wells, and hydrants that ensure safe water access.
Source Water Assessment: In 2004, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality assessed potential contamination threats to water sources. The two wells showed no adjacent land use concerns, while the surface water intake had one high-risk land use nearby. The complete assessment is available for inspection at the ADEQ office.
Health Information: Some individuals may be more vulnerable to contaminants, including those with compromised immune systems, cancer patients, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, elderly persons, and infants. These individuals should seek advice about drinking water from healthcare providers.
Lead Awareness: EPCOR monitored water for lead and copper in 2017 at 30 representative homes throughout the community, meeting federal standards. If present, elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for consumption can reduce potential lead exposure.
Seasonal Changes: Because your water supply contains both surface water and groundwater, you may notice seasonal variations in hardness and taste. These differences are normal and pose no safety concerns.
