Our water system serves approximately 13,478 residents in Fairfield County through an extensive underground piping network. The water primarily comes from groundwater sources, which are naturally filtered and then treated to ensure safety standards are met.

Water quality is continuously monitored for potential contaminants including bacteria, minerals, and disinfection by-products (DBPs). DBPs form when naturally occurring organic matter interacts with chlorine during the disinfection process. Long-term exposure to elevated levels of certain DBPs may affect liver, kidney, or nervous system function.

The Ohio Department of Health conducts Source Water Assessment Reports that evaluate susceptibility to contamination. According to these assessments, our groundwater sources have low-to-moderate vulnerability to potential contamination sources in the area.

We maintain rigorous testing protocols that exceed EPA requirements to ensure your water remains safe for consumption. Monthly testing monitors microbiological contaminants, while comprehensive chemical analyses occur at regular intervals throughout the year.
